City of Plano Housing Assistance Requirements

The City of Plano offers a variety of housing assistance programs to help low- and moderate-income residents afford safe and decent housing. These programs include rental assistance, down payment assistance, and home repair assistance. To be eligible for these programs, applicants must meet certain income and other requirements.

Income Requirements

To be eligible for most of the City of Plano's housing assistance programs, applicants must have an income at or below 80% of the area median income (AMI). The AMI is a measure of the median income of all households in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. For a family of four, the 2023 AMI is $94,800. Applicants with incomes above 80% of the AMI may be eligible for some programs, such as the down payment assistance program.

Other Requirements

In addition to income requirements, applicants for the City of Plano's housing assistance programs must also meet other requirements, such as:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
  • Reside in the City of Plano
  • Have a good rental history
  • Not have been convicted of a felony

To apply for a housing assistance program from the City of Plano, you can visit the city's website or call the Housing Assistance Hotline at (972) 491-7280. You can also apply in person at the city's Housing Assistance Center, located at 1525 K Avenue, Plano, TX 75074.
