Build Outdoor Cat House Plans

An outdoor cat house can provide your feline friend with a safe and comfortable place to enjoy the outdoors while staying protected from the elements.

Building an outdoor cat house is a relatively simple and inexpensive project that can be completed in a few hours. With a few basic tools and materials, you can create a cozy and inviting space for your cat to relax and play.

Materials

1 sheet of 3/4-inch plywood (4 feet by 8 feet)
1 sheet of 1/2-inch plywood (4 feet by 8 feet)
1 sheet of 1/4-inch plywood (4 feet by 8 feet)
1 roll of 1-inch galvanized wire mesh
1 box of 1-1/2-inch wood screws
1 box of 1-inch wood screws
1 tube of wood glue
1 can of exterior paint or stain
1 bag of sand or gravel

Circular saw
Jigsaw
Drill
Screwdriver
Hammer
Tape measure
Level
Staple gun

Instructions

Cut the 3/4-inch plywood into the following pieces:

2 pieces that are 24 inches by 48 inches
2 pieces that are 24 inches by 24 inches
1 piece that is 24 inches by 12 inches

Cut the 1/2-inch plywood into the following pieces:

1 piece that is 24 inches by 48 inches
1 piece that is 24 inches by 24 inches
1 piece that is 24 inches by 12 inches

Cut the 1/4-inch plywood into the following pieces:

1 piece that is 24 inches by 48 inches
1 piece that is 24 inches by 24 inches
1 piece that is 24 inches by 12 inches

Assemble the frame of the cat house by screwing the 24-inch by 48-inch pieces of 3/4-inch plywood together, as shown in the diagram below.

Attach the 24-inch by 24-inch pieces of 3/4-inch plywood to the front and back of the frame, as shown in the diagram below.

Attach the 24-inch by 12-inch piece of 3/4-inch plywood to the top of the frame, as shown in the diagram below.

Assemble the roof of the cat house by screwing the 24-inch by 48-inch piece of 1/2-inch plywood to the top of the frame, as shown in the diagram below.
